I'm Evan. I'm a UC Berkeley student and a self-taught developer and trader. No finance degree, no mentor, no pedigree. I learned from the same public sources everyone finds eventually (O'Neil, Minervini, a lot of Qullamaggie streams) and got obsessed enough to build something.
The thing everyone agrees on is that you only get good at breakouts by doing thousands of them. The problem is the real market only gives you a few clean setups a week. At that pace, experience takes a decade. That annoyed me, so I pulled years of historical data and built a flashcard drill for myself. A real setup, frozen right before it resolved. Call buy or skip, see what happened, next card. It was just for me. Then I kept building.
It's a one-person operation. I write the code, run the data pipeline, and answer support. No investors, no team, nobody pays to be featured. If something's wrong or unclear, it's on me.
Everything on the site is built around one style: momentum breakouts on daily charts, the swing-trading approach popularized by O'Neil, Minervini, and Qullamaggie. A stock builds a tight base after a strong move, breaks out on volume, you enter at the pivot, keep a tight stop, let winners run. The drill and the scanner both look for the same setup. The specific texture of the base varies, but the underlying rules are always the same: a leader near its highs, tight structure, volume, a clear pivot. Mechanical, not a hunch. I backtested those rules across 23 years of survivorship-free data. The edge is real but modest, it leans hard on market regime, and most individual breakouts still fail. I published the full study, including the parts that don't flatter it.
The practice deck is 1,000+ real historical setups using actual OHLCV data. The chart you judge is exactly what printed at the time, and the outcome you see is the real post-breakout move. The same rules run as a nightly scan across the live U.S. market. What you drill on history is what the scanner surfaces today.

breakouts.trade is an educational practice tool, not financial advice, not a brokerage, not a signal service. The discipline you build here can still lose money in a live account. Past performance, yours in the drills or anyone else's, never guarantees future results. Trading carries real risk of loss. Only risk capital you can afford to lose.
