What is the explosive-move continuation?
An explosive-move continuation forms when a stock advances enormously and fast, often roughly doubling in a few weeks, then pauses in a shallow, brief flag that barely gives anything back. It is the rarest and most powerful continuation pattern: the tiny pullback after a vertical move signals holders refusing to sell. The upside can be huge, and so is the cost when it fails, so size sensibly.

Measured across 668 historical explosive-move continuation setups in our database, each traded forward bar-by-bar with the same managed sell rules the drill teaches (trim a third on day 4, trail the 10-day average). How to identify a explosive-move continuation
- A powerful, fast prior advance, often roughly 80–100%+ in just a handful of weeks.
- A short pause, typically a few days to about three weeks. Not a long, drawn-out base.
- A shallow flag: the pullback is small relative to the size of the run.
- Tight, orderly price action that holds high on the chart, near the highs.
- A clear flag high to buy a break of, frequently via the opening-range high.
Where the entry and stop go
- Buy the break of the flag or opening-range high, often on a lower timeframe for a tighter stop.
- Stop under the breakout candle or flag low. Keep risk small because failures are sharp.
- Because the move is fast, an intraday trigger usually gives the best reward-to-risk.
